  Si3N4 Bonded SiC Products
        Silicon nitride (Si3N4) bonded silicon carbide (SiC) material is produced by adding industrial silicon paste into artificial aggregate. Under high temperature, Si and N2 reacts with the formula of 2N2+3Si¡úSi3N4, Si3N4 bonded Sic material is formed by bonding SiC particles tightly. Therefore, Si3N4 bonded SiC material is an excellent refractory with the original properties of SiC. The material has quite high strength even under the temperature of 1700¡æ, has properties of creep deformation resistance and anti-chemical erosion, and has excellent thermal conductivity and wear-resistance. Comparing with other several bonded SiC materials, Si3N4 bonded SiC material has attracted more and more attention.

        II The Technical Characters of Si3N4 bonded SiC Products
        Si3N4 bonded SiC material produced by our company is new-type high quality refractory product combining useful properties of the two compositions. The material has the properties of stable chemical property, with the bending strength under the normal temperature 4-8 times as much as common refractory, 2-3 times as the traditional SiC products (clay bonded SiC), as well as thermal conductivity 7-8 times as ordinary refractory, and low coefficient of expansion. It has been proved by practice that Si3N4 bonded SiC material has better properties of thermal shock stability, creep deformation resistance in high temperature, acid and alkali resistance, as well as excellent properties of anti-oxide and anti-erosion of aluminum, lead, tin and copper. It is an ideal kind of refractory for the enterprise to improve the quality of products and to increase economic benefits by substituting Si3N4 bonded SiC material for traditional SiC products, because it can reduce the weight of furnace stack by 50%, increase the loading capacity of furnace by 16%, and save energy by more than 25%.

Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) Bonded Silicon Carbide (SiC) Bricks Used in Electrolytic Bath

       Si3N4 Bonded SiC material is mainly used in the production of aluminum, copper and zinc , as the lining material of the molten pool and electrolytic bath (reduction bath). The side lining of the reduction bath is eroding by aluminum and cryolite (used as additive), but Si3N4 bonded SiC material could not be eroded by aluminum, and do not have chemical reaction with cryolite. So this kind of material is ideal for the lining bricks of the electrolytic bath. In particular this kind of bricks have the excellent properties of high strength, abrasive resistance and nonconductive, so the copolymer (Al2O3 and Cryolite). The copolymer likes protective film to protect the working lining and improve the service life of electrolytic bath. At the same time, the Si3N4 bonded SiC bricks have lower thermal conductivity than silicon bricks, so they can reduce the thickness of the side wall or input higher power to expanse the loading capacity of the electrolytic bath, and to increase the output. Because of the high resistivity of the material, it can reduce the power consumption of the side -wall about 15%, saving energy and protecting environment.

        The practical using of Si3N4 bonded SiC material in blast furnace has proved that the erosion of clay bricks is 6 times as much as Si3N4 bonded SiC material, and the erosion of SiO2 bonded SiC material and graphite-SiC bricks is 2.5 times as much as Si3N4 bonded SiC material.

        So far as the service life of Si3N4 bonded SiC bricks is 7 months longer than high-aluminum bricks, the cost of Si3N4 bonded SiC material can be recouped. So the using of Si3N4 bonded SiC material not only can meet the demands of the production of blast furnace, but also is proved to be feasible in economy. Therefore, as an ideal lining material for blast furnace, Si3N4 bonded SiC bricks are widely used now.
        Si3N4 bonded SiC complicated shape products are used widely, for example:
        I Si3N4 bonded SiC kiln products. In order to guarantee the quality of products and make full use of kiln volume, different kiln furnace needs different kiln products. But whatever kind of kiln product, it needs the material that is of creep resistance and high strength. In terms of function, Both Si3N4 bonded SiC material and annealed SiC material meet the demand. But because annealed SiC is too expensive, many customers select Si3N4 bonded SiC material.
        II The using of the products in steeling industry. The products are mainly used in billet preheating furnace and arc furnace. Compared with high-aluminum material pulley under billet preheating furnace, Si3N4 bonded SiC material can prolong service life 1-2 years. If Si3N4 bonded SiC material is used in the part above molten wire of arc furnace, it is twice as long as the service life of high-aluminum material.
        III The using of the products in chemistry industry. The products are mainly used for all kinds of the furnace lining of coal industry, organic chemical industry, inorganic chemical industry, burner lining, or the fire nozzle of burner etc.
        IV Used as lining for the waste or rubbish burning furnace. The products are of alkali resistance and wear-resistance.
